Maresha & Dywon first came to me in early 2023 hoping to plan a Mexico destination wedding but they were being given so much conflicting information. After one call, I knew we would be a good fit. I enjoyed helping them plan this travel so much, and I got to ask them all of the questions about how their wedding in Mexico turned out. Read on to find out!

Q & A with Maresha & Dywon about their wedding at Dreams Natura, in Riviera Cancun, Mexico

What was your biggest fear when planning your destination wedding?

At first we were nervous because we weren’t familiar with the resort. We wanted to ensure that all of our guest had a great time and they did.

Why did you choose Dreams Natura? What were some of the deciding factors?

We chose Dreams Natura mainly because of the Beyond Memorable package—it had everything we wanted for our wedding. The pictures of the rooms and the resort looked amazing, and the package offered great value for us and our guests. The pricing was also really good for what we were getting. All in all, it felt like the perfect place for our special day.

Was there anything about having a Mexico destination wedding that you were surprised by?

That we didn’t really get to speak with the wedding coordinator from the resort until about 30 days leading up to the wedding & that was nerve wrecking. The wedding packages were reasonable in price, but the add ons were extremely pricey. We didn’t get the price list until we finally spoke to the coordinator.

What was your experience with the on-site wedding coordinator?

Paulina was great. She was very friendly & professional from start to finish. She took the ideas we gave her for the flowers: bouquets & centerpieces, added some of her own touch & executed the vision. Paulina worked with our budget & wasn’t forceful with trying to convince us to add on things. She even added decor & didn’t charge us. Overall, we were very pleased & impressed how it all turned out.

Was there anything you splurged on for this wedding? And would you do that again?

Yes, we purchased the customized vinyl dance floor. Yes! Due to our reception being held in the ballroom with carpet; the added dance floor was definitely needed.

What kind of feedback did you get from your guests?

Our guests had an amazing time their entire stay. People still talk about it saying the wedding food was delicious & the reception was so much fun. The DJ had everyone on the dance floor all night.

If you could change anything about your wedding at all – what would it be?

We would have added an extra hour for the reception. It went by so fast and we weren’t ready for the party to end.

In what ways did Vacations By Melissa make this less stressful for you?

OMG, Melissa & her assistant made the destination wedding process so much easier & smoother for us. They handled the room bookings; made sure every guest was good to go. If any guests had changes or special requests; they were on it right away. They sent out reminder emails & helpful tips to the guests leading up to the trip to Mexico. Melissa created a wedding planning portal(Trello) to help guide us through the process & our wedding website that we sent to our guests. They made sure all guests’ transportation were taken care of to & from the airport/resort. They set up for everyone to have a water & snack when traveling to the resort from the airport, which was so appreciated because we were starving and it was blazing hot outside. Melissa really took care of us; making our wedding process easier and a memorable experience for us. She even gave us a couple surprises that we are extremely appreciative & thankful for. Her personality was so warming & bubbly. All of our guests had so many nice things to say.

What is your best piece of advice for couples entering the planning process for a destination wedding?

We definitely recommend hiring a travel agent who specializes in Mexico destination weddings (absolutely recommend Melissa!!) . It can seem overwhelming, but try not to stress. Everything works out. Trust the process.
