Hey!  I'm Melissa

Last updated on August 10th, 2026 at 12:37 pm

Danielle and Kevin celebrated their destination wedding at Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall in Jamaica on June 27, 2025, with 70 guests staying across a 35-room group block.

Most guests stayed for about four nights, giving the couple several days to enjoy Jamaica with their friends and family instead of fitting the entire celebration into one evening.

Their wedding events included a beach bonfire welcome party, a ceremony on the Sky Lounge Deck, cocktails at the Ocean Gazebo and a dinner reception at Di Roza.

In this real Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall wedding review, Danielle and Kevin share why they chose the resort, what the planning process was like, what their guests thought and what they would do differently.

You will also see how Melissa and Ally, the team behind Vacations By Melissa, supported the couple and their guests throughout the room-booking, travel and wedding-planning process.

About this wedding: Vacations By Melissa helped Danielle and Kevin compare resorts, select Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall, manage their 35-room block, organize guest travel and communicate with the resort throughout the planning process.

Why Danielle and Kevin Chose Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall

Danielle and Kevin knew they wanted to have their destination wedding in Jamaica.

They needed a resort that would be enjoyable for a mostly adult guest group while still welcoming the one 14-year-old attending the wedding. Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall offered a family-friendly resort experience alongside access to the connected adults-only Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall for eligible adult guests.

This gave the group more flexibility without requiring families and adults to stay at completely separate properties.

The couple also considered the overall resort experience, amenities, wedding options, guest pricing and convenience when comparing locations.

Melissa’s advisor perspective

Danielle and Kevin’s group was almost entirely adults, but they still needed a resort that could comfortably include their teenage guest.

Because I had personally stayed at Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall, I already understood the resort layout, the smaller cove-style beach areas and the relationship between the family-friendly and adults-only sections.

I also knew the wedding team to be responsive and helpful. For the type of experience Danielle and Kevin wanted, the resort offered a strong overall value.

The beach was not their only priority. They were more focused on finding the right combination of Jamaica, service, activities, wedding support and options for their guests.

Their Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall Wedding Weekend

Danielle and Kevin’s guests did not travel to Jamaica for only one ceremony and reception. The wedding was part of a multi-day group experience.

Beach Bonfire Welcome Party

The wedding festivities began on Thursday, June 26, with a beach bonfire at 8:00 p.m.

The bonfire was an additional wedding expense, but it gave the couple a relaxed way to welcome their guests and spend time together before the wedding day.

Wedding Ceremony at the Sky Lounge Deck

The ceremony took place on Friday, June 27, at 5:00 p.m. on the Sky Lounge Deck.

The elevated location gave the couple a distinct ceremony setting within the resort and allowed the wedding day to flow naturally into the cocktail hour and reception.

Cocktails at the Ocean Gazebo

Following the ceremony, guests moved to the Ocean Gazebo for cocktails and entertainment at 6:00 p.m.

This gave the couple and their guests time to transition between the ceremony and dinner while continuing the celebration.

Dinner Reception at Di Roza

Dinner began at Di Roza at 7:00 p.m.

The couple’s reception had originally been scheduled in an air-conditioned ballroom. However, the ballroom was under construction at the time of their wedding, so the reception was moved to the restaurant.

This change ultimately became one of the most useful lessons Danielle and Kevin shared from their wedding experience.

How Customizable Was Their Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall Wedding?

Danielle and Kevin felt that the resort was able to bring nearly everything they requested to life.

They used inspiration photos to communicate their ideas and worked with the resort wedding team to shape the event around their vision.

Their additional wedding expenses included the beach bonfire welcome party and florals.

The experience also showed why couples should stay flexible when planning a resort wedding. Venues, layouts and construction conditions can change between the time a wedding is booked and the wedding date.

For this wedding, the planned ballroom was unavailable because of construction, so the dinner reception moved to Di Roza.

Melissa’s advisor note

Inspiration photos can be extremely helpful, but they should be treated as a communication tool rather than a guarantee that a resort will recreate every detail exactly.

Current venue availability, décor options, construction and resort policies should always be reconfirmed during the planning process.

What Was It Like Working With the Resort Wedding Team?

Danielle and Kevin described the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall wedding team as helpful and responsive.

They also found that they personally preferred more defined deadlines and planning structure than the resort process always provided.

This is an important distinction for couples considering a resort wedding. A resort coordinator manages the wedding events taking place on the property, but that is not the same as managing the couple’s full room block, guest travel and overall planning experience.

What the resort wedding team handled

The resort wedding team focused on the on-property wedding experience, including:

  • Venue details
  • Wedding-day logistics
  • Resort-provided décor and floral arrangements
  • Food and beverage
  • Event timing
  • On-site coordination

What Vacations By Melissa handled

Vacations By Melissa supported the larger destination-wedding experience, including:

  • Resort selection
  • Major planning decisions
  • Room-block management
  • Guest reservations
  • Payment tracking
  • Guest questions
  • Travel reminders
  • Flight information
  • Airport transportation
  • Jamaica travel preparation
  • Resort communication
  • Planning organization
  • Last-minute problem-solving

Melissa generally handled the wedding-planning guidance, resort conversations and major decisions.

Ally handled most room bookings, payments and guest questions.

Together, they used their internal planning system to help make the experience seamless for Danielle, Kevin and their guests.

Was the Presidential Suite Worth It?

Danielle and Kevin stayed in the presidential suite during their wedding stay.

The suite provided valuable space for the wedding party to gather and prepare for the day. It gave them room for hair, makeup, food and time together before the ceremony.

For couples comparing room categories, the value of a larger suite is not always limited to luxury. It can also provide practical space on the wedding day.

Whether an upgraded suite is worth the cost will depend on the couple’s budget, group size and plans for getting ready.

Room categories, layouts, amenities and prices can change, so couples should verify current details before booking.

What Did Their Wedding Guests Think?

Overall, Danielle and Kevin received positive feedback from their guests.

Because most guests stayed for about four nights, the group had time to enjoy the resort, relax and spend time together outside the scheduled wedding events.

That additional time is one of the biggest differences between a destination wedding and a traditional wedding at home. The couple was able to share more than a ceremony and reception with the people who traveled to celebrate with them.

A few guests told Danielle and Kevin that they felt they were asked for tips more frequently than they expected. Danielle and Kevin did not personally have the same experience.

Because this feedback came from a small number of guests, it should be understood as part of this group’s individual experience rather than a universal description of every stay at Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall.

What Would Danielle and Kevin Do Differently?

Although Danielle and Kevin felt the wedding was right for them, they would reconsider their reception location.

They had originally wanted an indoor reception because they expected the air conditioning to provide relief from Jamaica’s heat.

When the ballroom became unavailable because of construction, the reception was moved to Di Roza.

Once guests began dancing, the restaurant became warm. In hindsight, the couple felt an outdoor reception may have provided more airflow, an ocean breeze and a better view.

They also would have appreciated an earlier video walkthrough or clearer view of the reception setup before arriving at the resort.

Seeing the room layout earlier could have made decisions about tables, décor and event flow easier.

The couple also preferred firm deadlines and clearer expectations during the resort-planning process, especially for decisions such as seating arrangements and décor.

Melissa’s advisor takeaway

Ask the resort for current venue photographs, capacity information, floor plans and, when possible, a video walkthrough.

Couples should also request a written planning timeline that identifies when the resort needs final guest counts, seating plans, menu choices, décor decisions and vendor information.

These details make it easier to plan without rushing during the final weeks.

How Vacations By Melissa Supported All 70 Guests

Vacations By Melissa supported Danielle and Kevin throughout the entire process—not only when it was time to travel.

Melissa and Ally managed the full 35-room block and helped guide guests from the booking stage through their arrival in Jamaica.

Their support included:

  • Answering room-booking questions
  • Managing reservations for all 35 rooms
  • Tracking guest payments
  • Sending payment reminders
  • Sending passport reminders
  • Collecting flight information
  • Coordinating private airport transportation
  • Providing packing and travel guidance
  • Preparing guests for Jamaica’s customs forms
  • Sharing airport and arrival information
  • Creating a wedding travel itinerary
  • Setting up WhatsApp communication
  • Helping with room-placement requests
  • Communicating with individual guests
  • Working with the resort
  • Creating a website for optional excursions and activities

The private transportation was arranged through a company Vacations By Melissa works with in Jamaica.

Guests could also use the dedicated website to review and book optional excursions and activities outside the wedding events.

This support was especially important for guests who did not travel frequently and needed additional reminders or explanations.

Instead of Danielle and Kevin being responsible for every booking question, payment concern or transportation detail, guests had Melissa and Ally available to help them.

That allowed the couple to focus more on their wedding and less on acting as a travel help desk.

What Was the Biggest Benefit of Working With Vacations By Melissa?

Danielle described the planning experience as virtually stress-free compared with other wedding experiences she had heard about.

She appreciated that Melissa quickly understood her personality and planning style.

The planning lists helped Danielle focus on what truly needed to be completed, while the Trello board gave her a place to find information and work through tasks on her own schedule.

Danielle also valued having an experienced advocate who could communicate with the resort, ask difficult questions and help protect the couple’s interests.

The process felt personal, attentive and organized rather than transactional.

For Danielle and Kevin, the biggest benefit was not simply having someone book the resort. It was having a team guide the wedding, manage guest travel and help solve problems throughout the process.

Is Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall a Good Fit for a Destination Wedding?

Based on Danielle and Kevin’s wedding and Melissa’s first-hand resort experience, Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall may be a strong fit for couples who want:

  • A destination wedding in Jamaica
  • Family-friendly and adults-only options in one connected resort experience
  • A resort suitable for a mostly adult group that still includes a younger guest
  • Several wedding-event locations
  • A responsive resort wedding team
  • A convenient location near the Montego Bay airport
  • A resort that offers good overall value for the experience

Couples should also consider the following:

  • The beach areas are smaller and more cove-like than the long, expansive beaches found at some other Caribbean resorts.
  • Current wedding venues and construction conditions should be verified.
  • Couples who prefer firm deadlines may benefit from additional planning structure.
  • An outdoor reception may be more comfortable for couples who want airflow and ocean views.
  • Packages, venue options, inclusions and prices can change.

No resort is automatically right for every wedding group.

The best choice depends on the couple’s guest list, budget, preferred atmosphere, room needs, wedding priorities and communication style..

Planning a Destination Wedding in Jamaica?
