Kenny & Rose

May 4th,2024

I first met Kenny & Rose when they were part of a group trip for some of their friends 30th birthdays. After the fun they had with all of their friends at an all-inclusive, they knew a destination wedding was in their future. There were a few minor bumps along the road, but when the resort tried to throw a wrench in their plans, this sweet couple made lemonade out of lemons.

Q & A with Kenny & Rose

What was your biggest fear when planning your destination wedding?

Our biggest fears while planning was the amount of people that would be able to come and price for the things we wanted to have there.  It was also hard not knowing how things would look on our wedding day and putting our faith in the destination wedding planner at the resort.

Why did you choose Sandals Royal Bahamian?  What were some of the deciding factors

We stayed there about 7 years ago and loved it and the idea of the private island for our wedding. The island was unique and we loved how we would be the only people over there! The resort itself is on the smaller side which we loved as well, it was easy to bump into our guests without having to coordinate meet up spots. The big deciding factor was the short and straight flight from the philly airport, it made selling our destination wedding to our friends and family very easy!

Was there anything about having a destination wedding that you were surprised by?

We really weren’t surprised by anything!

What was your experience with the on-site wedding coordinator?

It was a great experience with the on-site wedding coordinator! She was very thorough and went over everything and how the day would go the day prior in her office, it was also nice that we had the option to change details if we wanted to at that meeting. We ended up tweaking how many aisle runners we had as we needed more than we originally got. She was timely the day of the wedding and stayed over the island with us and made sure everything went the way we planned!

Was there anything you splurged on for this wedding?  Would you do that again?

We splurged on getting a Catamaran excursion for our guests the day after the wedding! We would absolutely do that again, it was so much fun and all of our guests loved it! The ride to the boat we went through downtown Nassau which was awesome to see and it was nice to get a change of scenery off the resort!

Any Vendors you loved and want to mention?

We didn’t end up using any outside vendors other than my hair and makeup. I used Lucylubrides which I found on instagram, they are based out of the bahamas. It was a good experience with them, they only accepted cash which wasn’t convenient but overall was a good experience with them.

What kind of feedback did you get from your guests?

Our feedback has been awesome, everyone was talking about how great of a wedding it was and the trip overall! Island was a unique experience, everyone was so surprised that we were the only ones over there and it was cool talking the boat ride over and back!

If you could change anything about your wedding at all – what would it be?

Honestly, I don’t think we would change a thing about our wedding, from the welcome party, to the wedding to the whole trip. It was so fantastic and exactly what we wanted!

In what ways did Vacations By Melissa make this less stressful for you?

Melissa was the best throughout the entire process from before booking and looking at our options to when we were at the resort! She made live Itineraries pre-wedding which were very helpful for everyone, we got so many comments from our guests how awesome they were. She also made booking the flights and hotel payment process very smooth as well for all of our guests. She was always available for our guests when they reached out with questions and when we had questions. On one specific event, we were having an issue with sandals as they had double booked our venue for the day we wanted, Melissa called us immediately once we told her what had happened and helped us navigate the situation and calm me down! We could not have imagined doing this without her, she made the entire process a fun one when they usually are stressful!

What is your best piece of advice for couples entering the planning process?

The best piece of advice for couples entering the planning process is make sure you savor and enjoy the planning and wedding itself, it goes by so fast! Also have a backup plan if the weather doesn’t cooperate, and make it one that makes you happy! And lastly, go into the trip with a go with the flow attitude, you’re on island time so try to enjoy and relax!
