Now, I know that’s a pretty big range, so let’s talk about what affects these numbers.

One thing that surprises many couples is that choosing a more luxurious resort doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll spend more on your wedding. In fact, the more your guests spend on their rooms, the less you may have to spend on the wedding itself. That’s because high-end resorts often offer more inclusive wedding packages as an incentive to attract your business.

Another key factor? The number of guests. The more people you invite, the less you might pay per person. Many resorts offer tiered packages, so as your guest count goes up, so do the inclusions in your wedding package—sometimes even including a free room for you!

4. Travel insurance: 10% of the total trip cost (minus flights)
